All Warranties begin on the date the assembly is delivered to the original owner.
Warranty is not transferable to another party.

Engines used for racing, either sanctioned or not have no warranty.

Warranties provided by or purchased from Whitten's Automotive Machine Shop are Limited and not an unconditional warranty of failures or hazards. See Conditions Below

Long Block (Passenger Cars/Light Trucks)

Included Warranty: include workmanship and material for 12 months from date of invoice or 12,000 miles whichever occurs first. See Conditions Below

Labor warranty is 100% if complete assembly is returned for repair within the warranty
period to Whitten's Automotive Machine Shop WAMS staff at their facility located at 620 Franklin Drive in Lewisville, Texas. This warranty is only good if complete serviced assembly is returned within the warranty period and damage to engine is determined to not have been caused by overheating, neglect of maintenance, or abuse by customer.

For the first 90 days, labor costs for repairs made in other service facilities will be
reimbursed at a rate of $25.00 per hour up to a maximum of $100.00. To qualify, customers must provide original invoice with all accompaning information listing detailed repairs made and parts used.

Cylinder Heads (Passenger Cars and Light Trucks)

Items that are inspected

Items listed below are only used as a guide. This list does not limit the items of inspection.

  • Heat Tabs must be the original one installed by WAMS and fully entact.
  • Valve warpage due to overheating or air/fuel ratio problems.
  • For long block over head camshaft engines the cylinder head and timing belt must be entact for inspection. (unless the concern is a broken timing belt)
  • The oil and oil filter present during the failure must be installed on the engine for analysis.
  • Intake and exhaust manifolds should be installed for inspection.
  • Mileage of the vehicle at time of failure. May be verified by WAMS associate.

Conditions of Warranty(Passenger Cars and Light Trucks)

For warranty to be honored the following component replacements are suggested:

  • Radiator
  • Coolant
  • Oil and Oil Filter
  • Thermostat
  • Water pump (if not included with assembly)
  • Timing Belt/Chain (for short blocks and cylinder heads)
  • Ignition components (spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor(serviceable components)
  • Any wear component that is directly related to the operation of the engine.

Obligations of customer for warranty effectiveness.

  • Engine oil replacement after first 500 miles and every 3000 miles thereafter.
  • Upon claim of warranty the customer must provide printed receipts of engine
    oil changes which were performed by a commercial repair facility.
  • The customer is responsible for checking engine oil level/condition, coolant level/condition, warning indicators, and gauges to ensure proper engine operation.

Limits to warranty
Below is a list of items or conditions that are NOT covered under a "warranty repair"

  • Any diagnostic labor that is not related to the parts or service supplied by W.A.M.S
  • Damage as a result of abuse from competition, racing, or usage other than the product's original design.
  • A malfunctioning or disconnected odometer will void the warranty.
  • A repair that does not have prior approval from W.A.M.S for engine/product related concerns
  • Shop supplies such as oil, coolant, filters, ignition components etc...
  • Damage resulting from ignition, fuel system, emissions, transmission, or induction malfunctions.

Extended Warranty

Extended warranties are available for cars,light duty trucks, and vans(no commercial or marine). They provide national coverage of failures related to engine concerns. They allow the warranty purchaser to have their car fixed at any reputable repair facility in the case of a warranty repair.
Extended warranties are an additional cost to the engine repair.
If you are interested in an extended warranty you must inform us when you drop off your engine or car for service. In some cases warranties are not available after the engine has been built due to the underwriters' parts requirements.
